Thumbs up to the return of the Chautauqua County Fair this July.

It’s been three years since the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds in Dunkirk have hosted the fair. Large group gatherings like the fair were canceled due to COVID-19 in 2020 and the state’s inability to finalize COVID-19 guidance for last summer left too little time to plan the fair in 2021.

Powers and Thomas Amusements will provide rides and entertainment. The county 4-H program will have its traditional offerings. The fair food and the wonderful smell that fill the fairgrounds will be back in the air. We look forward to the sights and sounds of the demolition derby.

More information about the fair will be released in the coming weeks. The volunteer fair board has a lot of work to do, and we thank them for doing so.

The Chautauqua County Fair is a wonderful tradition that we look forward to resuming this year.
