Artisan Christmas Bazaar Is An Idea Jamestown Should Get Behind

Diana Scott has an idea that we hope takes off — an Artisan Christmas Bazaar in downtown Jamestown.

It is exactly the type of event that downtown has been missing for quite some time, and Scott deserves all the credit in the world for taking it on.

Scott’s vision, drawing on inspiration from a similar event in Bufffalo, is a three Saturdays in December to feature area vendors who make their own products selling their wares on city sidewalks and businesses as well as on two floors of the Dykeman Building, 100 E. Second St. Scott said there will be food and music, and a tree farm where people can select their family’s Christmas tree for the holiday season.

Scott needs help to pull this event off –and that’s where you come in. Any event worth its salt needs volunteers, and that’s been a problem for events in recent years. Those who want to help a new event get off the ground can contact Scott on Facebook through the Studio D Catering page.

Downtown truly comes alive during the annual holiday parade. It’d be nice to see that type of activity more than just one December night. Scott has provided a wonderful vision. Let’s come together to make it a reality.
