New Potter’s Terrace Design Has A Lot To Live Up To

Potter’s Terrace was once one of the most unique little areas in Jamestown.

The wooden park was unlike anything else in the area, created as it was in the space where a building burned down decades ago. Eventually, the park became unstable and had to be torn down.

Jamestown’s Planning Commission is now discussing plans for green space, benches, tree planters and picnic tables in the small park with construction possibly starting next year.

The design sounds fine, but those of a certain age will always remember Potter’s Terrace as a truly original space in downtown that lent itself to everyday use as a place to rest, to eat lunch on a nice day and also as a place for small downtown events.

We hope the next iteration of Potter’s Terrace finds a similar niche.
