Have Your Voice Heard

A Gallup poll last week showed 69 percent of Americans polled are dissatisfied with Donald Trump’s campaign for president. Forty-eight percent of people polled said they are dissatisfied with Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

That’s an awful lot of people who aren’t happy with one of the longest, nastiest and least fulfilling presidential campaign seasons in recent memory. We hope the fact that few will look back on this campaign fondly is not indicative of voter turnout.

Our country was founded on the idea that citizens have the right to choose the people who represent them in government. Today, we have our chance to choose the direction our country takes for the next four years. Through your vote, you can send a message about the type of representation you want in Albany, the type of prosecutor you want in the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s office, who you want hearing difficult cases in Chautauqua County Family Court and New York state Supreme Court.

Regardless of your feelings about the presidential candidates, we have a fine slate of candidates on the ballot for state and local office. Vote. Have your voice heard.

As a reminder, here is The Post-Journal’s endorsed candidates:

U.S. Senator: Charles Schumer

U.S. House Of Representatives: Tom Reed

New York State Assembly: Andrew Goodell

New York State Senate: Catharine Young

Chautauqua County District Attorney: Patrick Swanson

Chautauqua County Family Court: Michael Sullivan

New York State Supreme Court: Grace Hanlon

Ballot Proposition To Change Chautauqua County Legislature Terms From Two Years To Four Years: Vote No.
