Born on July 23, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, he moved to Athens, West Virginia at a young age and considered it his hometown. He made homes in New Jersey, Puerto Rico, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, before finally retiring to his home in Ashville, New York.
