Scott Allen Dietzel, 56, of Jamestown, New York, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 8, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love for those fortunate enough to have known him.
Scott was the son of Gary Dietzel and the late Kathy Dietzel, who passed away in 2004. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna Dietzel, who passed away in December 2025, and his father-in-law, Donald Filipkowski.
Scott is survived by his sons, Brandon Dietzel of Jamestown, NY, with whom he made his home, and Jacob Dietzel of Sinclairville, NY; his father, Gary Dietzel of Bemus Point, NY; his sister, Tammy (Richard) DeVlieger of Greenville, SC; and his mother-in-law, Cecelia Filipkowski. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Cecelia (Pete) Kulak and Liz Filipkowski; nieces Ashley Peterson, Allison Hanczarowski, Ashley Kulak, Lauren Stelmack, and Meredith Stelmack; and nephews, Derek DeVlieger, Jeff DeVlieger, and Steven Kulak, along with extended family and many friends who loved him dearly.
Scott also leaves behind his beloved animals, Jessie, Jack, and Sadie, who were a constant source of love, comfort, and companionship and brought him so much happiness throughout the years.
Prior to experiencing a serious medical event in 2021, Scott worked at SKF. Outside of work, Scott had enough interests, passions, and talents to fill several lifetimes.
Aviation was one of Scott's greatest loves. As a pilot, he loved being in the air, but he was just as happy sitting in his yard with a pair of binoculars watching airplanes pass overhead. If it had wings, chances are it had Scott's attention.
Scott was also a talented artist and musician who played the drums and had a deep appreciation for all kinds of music. He loved motorcycles, riding dirt bikes, his animals, and cheering on his beloved Buffalo Bills. Some of his most cherished times were spent with his boys when they were young, helping coach their football teams and taking them to many Buffalo Bills games. Those were the moments that meant the most to Scott, simply being with the people he loved.
More than his many interests and talents, Scott will be remembered for his one-of-a-kind personality. He was incredibly funny and loved making people laugh. Wherever Scott went, he had a way of becoming part of the entertainment. There was always a story, a joke, or something unexpected that would leave everyone smiling. His sense of humor and personality were uniquely his, and those who knew him knew there was truly no one else quite like Scott.
Scott had a big heart and loved his family deeply. His life changed following his medical event in 2021, and the years that followed brought many challenges, but those challenges could never erase the person he was or the memories he created throughout his life.
He was a devoted father, beloved son and brother, loving husband, pilot, musician, artist, animal lover, motorcycle enthusiast, and loyal Buffalo Bills fan. Above all, Scott was someone who was truly unforgettable.
Those who loved Scott will find reminders of him in so many places: in the sound of drums and the music he loved, in the roar of a motorcycle, during a Buffalo Bills game, and especially whenever an airplane passes overhead.
Scott brought laughter wherever he went, loved deeply, and lived with a personality entirely his own. He will be deeply loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice for the compassionate care and support provided to Scott and his family during the last several months of his life, as well as to the VNA for the care and assistance they provided throughout the past several years.
Scott was lovingly cared for each day during his final months by his son Brandon and his sister Tammy, whose love, devotion, and presence helped ensure that Scott could remain at home surrounded by those who loved him.
A Celebration of Life honoring Scott and his beloved wife, Anna, will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements have been finalized.
