Richard Anthony Fiorello “Mizzy”

Richard Anthony Fiorello "Mizzy", of Jamestown, New York, passed away on October 10, 2026, in Ocala, Florida. He was 85 years old.

Richard was born in Jamestown, New York, on September 3, 1941, to Samuel and Louise Fiorello. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1959 and later earned an Associate of Science degree from Jamestown Community College.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army as an artillery gunner and sharpshooter. Following his military service, he built a career in construction, working for many years as a laborer and field site supervisor. He later served the community as a housing inspector for the City of Jamestown, Department of Development.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Fiorello of Jamestown, New York; his sons, Brian Fiorello(Sarah) of Brooktondale, New York, and Jason Fiorello of Ocala, Florida; and his cherished grandsons, Cameron Fiorello and Mason Fiorello of Ocala, Florida, and Micah Fiorello and Leo Fiorello of Brooktondale, New York. He is also survived by his twin brother, Robert Fiorello of Randolph, New York; his niece, Louise Flynn(Mark) of Waxhaw, North Carolina; his niece, Amy Henschel(Karl) of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and his close friend, Donald Constantino(Michelle), Jamestown, New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Louise Fiorello, and his brother, Charles Fiorella(Sally)and sister-in-law, Joan Fiorello.

Richard had a deep love for the outdoors and spent time hunting and enjoying nature. He was an exceptionally knowledgeable birder, had a keen interest in politics, and possessed a remarkable breadth of knowledge that often made family and friends joke he could have been a contestant on Jeopardy! He had a unique ability to find humor in everyday life and brought smiles to those around him. Richard was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills, but above all else, he treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held in his honor during the summer of 2027. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard's honor to the Roger Torey Peterson Institute or the Audubon Community Nature Center.
