Martin P. Rowe, 70, of Ripley, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on October 10, 2026. He was a 1974 graduate of Ripley Central School where he wrestled and played football.
Marty was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, loyal brother and caring uncle who cherished his family in his own unique way. He worried often, had little patience for nonsense, and wasn't afraid to let you know when something annoyed him. Behind his sometimes grumpy nature was a man with a good heart who cared deeply for the people he loved.
He was the first Ripley wrestler to compete at the State Tournament. He attended and wrestled at Jamestown Community College. He was a youth wrestling and football coach and spent 19 seasons coaching the Ripley Varsity Wrestling team (1990 - 2008) where they won multiple league titles, turning the program into one of the top small schools in the state. He coached multiple sectional champs, state qualifiers, and state place finishers. He also volunteered his time with the cross-country team and spent time as the Ripley Athletic Director. His impact went beyond the Town of Ripley as he helped coach the NYS Super 6 Wrestling Club, Empire State Games, and multiple wrestling camps. He was inducted into the Western NY Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2018.
Marty is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Rowe, whom he married August 7, 1976, two sons, Adam, Aaron and his wife Teri, two grandsons, Quintin and Braxton, who were the center of his world, Brothers Michael (Amy Near), Daniel (Sylvia), and Darwin (Nancy), two sisters, Rebecca Carvallo (Joe), and Cindy Adrezejczak (Kevin), and 27 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Waite Rowe (1997).
A celebration of life will be held from 1-3P PM on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Meeders Banquet Hall with a short service to start.
