1944-2026

Faber J. Merola

Faber Joseph "Bud" Merola, born July 21, 1944, in Southern California to Joseph and Constance Merola, passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2026.

Bud lived a full and adventurous life, marked by hard work, a love of family, and a lifelong curiosity about the world around him. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Following his military service, he lived in Maryland and pursued his passion for photography, working as a photographer, he later returned to California where he worked for Ford Motor Company before eventually moving to New York. There, he made his home in Sinclairville, where he owned and operated a dairy farm.

Throughout his life, Bud had many interests and passions. As a young man, he enjoyed helping his parents train and show their champion German Shepherds. Photography was more than a profession for Bud; it was something he genuinely loved. He also enjoyed SCUBA diving, fishing, hunting, cooking, and, perhaps most of all, sharing a good story.

His time in the Army sparked a love of travel that remained with him throughout his life. In later years, Bud especially enjoyed touring the United States, discovering small towns, traveling through the mountains, and taking in and photographing the beauty and character of places off the beaten path. For Bud, the journey was often just as important as the destination.

Above all, Bud loved his family and the time he spent with those closest to him. He will be remembered for his stories, his adventurous spirit, the experiences he shared, and the many memories he leaves behind.

Bud is survived by his children, Cynthia LeBarron, Jeannette (Charles) Conti, Kimberly (Ray) Whitacre, Joseph (Rebecca) Merola, and Anthony Merola; his sister, Elizabeth (Don) Cooper; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dear friend, Sandra Seeley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Constance Merola, and his sisters, Katherine, Marian, Josephine, and Carol Ann.

Bud lived a life filled with family, hard work, adventure, and stories worth telling. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation was held on Friday, October 9th from 4:00 - 6:00pm at Jordan Funeral home in Sinclairville, NY. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
