Cynthia (Cindy) Marie Bloom (Saye), 71, of East Aurora, died Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Absolute Care following a long illness. She was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Dorothy M. (Craven) and Kenneth H. Saye. Cindy was a graduate of Jamestown High School in NY and went to Jamestown Community College for nursing where she earned two associate degrees, the first in 1976 and the second in 1985. She was a nurse for many years before a back injury forced her to leave that profession. Before retirement she worked as a teacher's aide for the Jamestown Public School District, primarily at Jefferson Middle School.
Cindy belonged to different churches over the years, and her passion was crocheting for a prayer shawl ministry. She would crochet the shawls to which others would add fringe and a printed prayer. The shawls were delivered to local medical facilities for patients as well as gifted to individuals. Cindy loved animals and had a menagerie over the years of birds, cats, dogs, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, and turtles. She was kind and tender-hearted, but also very feisty, soul.
Surviving are three children, Lara Kay Skinner and husband Justin of Baldwin, MD, Michelle Lynn Sabol of Doylestown, PA, and Terrence Russell (TJ) Bloom of Sherman, NY; three siblings, Terry Saye of Bemus Point, NY, Bobbi Jo Saye of Williamsburg, VA, and Jodi Grondborg of Painesville, OH; and a grandson, Chase Sabol. Cindy was preceded in death by two siblings, Tracy Toncich of Wilkins Twp, PA and Gwen Ernest of Winston-Salem, NC.
Loved ones will gather on October 17 at 10am at Bellinger Chapel at First Presbyterian Church of Jamestown as an open memorial to share memories. You would like to make a charitable donation in Cindy's memory or in condolence to her loved ones, the family suggests the National Alliance on Mental Illness at donate.nami.org/CindyBloom.
