Becky Hemmis

Becky Hemmis, 64, of Jamestown, passed away Friday Sept. 18th at Buffalo General Hospital after a lengthy battle with kidney and heart disease. She was born in Jamestown and resided in Ashville NY and the surrounding area for the majority of her life. She was the daughter of the late Diane Hemmis and James (Daune) Hemmis.

Becky was a graduate of Ashville Central (1979) and later on JCC. She was a dedicated humanitarian, working with people from all walks of life during her years. Being the recipient of the John Conway award in 2003 for her work with Chautauqua County mental health was a highlight in her passion to care for others and share her love for Jesus.

Becky ended her career due to health issues but continued to stay very involved as a volunteer. When she wasn't busy with Mental Health Association or her family, she could be found at Blackwell Chapel alongside her sister in Christ, Karen Neal and the countless other church family members.

In addition to her father, James (Daune), she is survived by three daughters: Tamra McKale, Deanna Stanton and Wendy Stanton; grandchildren, Charolet Davis, Liz Stanton, Kaylee Stanton, Avary McKale, Lucy Stanton, Alanna Stanton, Mya Stanton, Bailey Stanton, and Bryson Stanton; step siblings Richard (Laurie) Digirolamo, Rochelle (Adrian) Coone; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her mother, Diane, she was preceded in death by her Grams, Peg Hemmis; brother, James Hemmis Jr.; a granddaughter, Cherish Ryder; nephew, Matt Swatt; and her beloved companion, Onyx.
