Terry Ann Ortner passed away Sunday September 6 at UPMC Chautauqua hospital in Jamestown after suffering illness. Terry was born May 17, 1947 to Joseph A. Trainer and Marjorie Ann (Walters) Trainer, beginning her life at home in Sinclairville. The growing family later moved to Levant where Terry and siblings attended Levant Wesleyan Methodist Church. She was fortunate to be a student at the one room schoolhouse in Levant and graduated in1965 from Falconer High School, an artist and violinist.
Terry married Karl John Ortner," Sonny" in 1965 and they settled in Cattaraugus. Their son, Karl John Ortner III "Little Sonny" was born in 1967. They had several foster children and they remained in touch over the years. Terry and Sonny raised and raced pacers at the western NY tracks for many years.
Terry was the oldest of eight. She is survived by brother Tomas Sawyer Trainer and sisters: V. Penny Gottsche, Laurie Diane Trainer, Lauren "Jane" Crawford, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Terry was preceded in passing by her parents, her husband, Sonny, and their son, Sonny, her
brother, Ted Trainer, and sisters, Connie Sontag and Georgette Webb.
Terry remained close with her very dear friends from her childhood, their 4-h club, their school years together, their marriages and families, until her last day. They were always there for each other.
Terry wished no celebrations be carried on in her memory, but we will always have our wonderful memories of her.
