Sylvia Jean Proctor, 86, of Jamestown, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 4, 1940 in Youngsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clair Beardsley, Sr. and Edna Messinger Beardsley. She graduated from Youngsville High School in 1957.
Sylvia worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Floyd W. Proctor Enterprise. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She loved family get-togethers, cracking jokes and making everyone laugh.She also loved going for drives, always choosing the scenic route and dirt roads whenever possible. Those simple adventures became treasured memories for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd W. Proctor; a daughter, Rebecca Ann Paloncy; a son-in-law, Daniel Larson; a grandson, James Larson; a granddaughter, Angel Nicole Paloncy; 3 brothers, Fred, Delbert and Elwood Beardsley; 3 sisters, June Coon, Gladys King, and Ann Freeman.
Surviving are 4 daughters, Terrie Larson of Busti, NY, Debbie Thompson of Jamestown, NY, Cinama (Richard) Baine of Jamestown, NY, Sheela (Ted) Kosinski of Lakewood, NY; 3 brothers, Clair Beardsley, Jr. of Warren, PA, Ed Beardsley of Sugar Grove, PA, and Ashley Beardsley of Corry, PA; 1 sister, Marge Maleski of French Creek, NY; 8 grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) Weaver, Levi Mitchener, Katie (Scott) Weilacher, Dakota Proctor-Burch, Matthew (Maddie) Kosinski, Thomas (Tara) Kosinski, Lamonica (Dennis) Higdon, Charlynn (Kevin Taylor) Proctor-Burch; 15 great-grandchildren, Ashlynn and Norah Weaver, Collin and Ruthie Mitchener, Peyton and Ethan Weilacher, Conway and Hans Larson, Oakleigh and Braelyn Proctor-Burch, Clayton and Clara Higdon, Kian and Kiera Taylor, and McKenna Kosinski; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at the McKinney Funeral Home, 54 W. Main St., Youngsville, PA on Sunday, September 13, 2026 from 4 – 7 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Busti Church of God on Forest Ave., Jamestown, NY, on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 11 am with Pastor Roy Ferguson officiating.
A graveside service will then follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Jamestown, NY. E-condolences may be made to the family at www.mckinneyfuneral.com. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Best Care Coordinators who lovingly cared for Sylvia and became like family; and, a special thanks to Hospice of Chautauqua County.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14701. Forever loved, deeply missed and never forgotten.
