Sue Cochran Mastrosimone of Jamestown, NY passed away during the winter of January 2026. She was born, February 10, 1938, in Glen White, West Virginia to Lundy and Grace Cochran. She is the seventh Cochran child of eight and is the last to join our Heavenly Father.
Sue's celebration of life is being held at Lind Funeral Home on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 1:30-2:30pm. Her family, Rev. Paul Cygan, and friends will honor and pray together for her.
Sue and Philip Mastrosimone devoted their lives to four children and their spouses, along with six beloved grandchildren, to whom they leave a family legacy of love and remembrance: Mary Mastrosimone-Gese, Philip Mastrosimone Jr., Susan Fiorenzo, and Angela Mastrosimone.
She cherished her extended family, and grandkids: Ralph, Mariah and Ryan Gese; Rose, Philip III, Mason and Ryan Mastrosimone; Seth Fiorenzo; Gabriel Mastrosimone; as well as her many Cochran and Mastrosimone beloved family members. Sue's cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters, brothers, in-law's and friends showed her unconditional love and affection that she in turn gave back to everyone.
Sue assisted her husband with the family business-Philip Mastrosimone Construction. She steadily kept her service to community and church in action over many decades. She led by example. She quietly displayed how women of her generation could volunteer, raise children, keep a home, and she became the matriarch her family is proud of. A life goal for Sue was to insure her four children earn a college degree, which Sue and Phil supported fully together. Her selfless ambitions to make things better for people benefited all. Her quiet and tireless volunteer hours included serving as Bush School PTA President, Assistant Director of the Southwestern New York PTA, as well as supporting her children in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and the Music Parent's Association. She ran for city government and continued her education at JCC. In her empty-nest years from 1979-1991, Sue elevated her endeavors further and served faithfully as Religious Education Director at Saint James Church, where she became a certified Catechist for the Buffalo Diocese. She nurtured young minds with gentle patience, and she treated every person as a beloved child of God. She believed all education sets an individual's mind free to become exactly who God created them to be.
Our dear mom was a news junkie; she never missed reading the Post Journal and loved her magazines, TV news, and her book collection. She had a passion for music, was an avid Elvis fan, she was crazy for the heavy energetic beat of the bass. As her hearing failed, we enjoyed "crankin'-up-the-bass," at her request. She especially enjoyed Rap music in her car with her grandson. She had a wicked sweet tooth, she loved all animals to a fault, and she rescued and raised many over the years, She loved plants and nature. She was always fun loving and carefree from her very core. She lived for long car rides to the country. She survived stage 3 cancer and remained in remission for 7 years. She loved the mountain she grew up on called Packs Branch, in West Virginia. She had a good and kind heart, and she will forever remain, "Sudie, the prettiest girl on the Branch." A sentiment of her late nephew, Larry, who also passed this 2026.
