Ronald L. "Ron" Pigman, 85, of Frewsburg, passed away in his sleep at home on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, after a nearly 4-year bout with dementia.
He was born on June 21, 1941, in Junius, NY, a son of the late Ernest M. and Doris Williamson Pigman.
Ron graduated from Waterloo High School and from Syracuse University, College of Environmental Science and Forestry, earning bachelor's and master's degrees. He began his career with NYS Department of Conservation as a Forester and worked his way up to Region 9 Operations Supervisor. After retiring, Ron started his own ATM business, MP Enterprises, and served as Assessor for the Towns of Carroll and Ripley.
He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church and a 33rd Degree Mason, belonging to
several Masonic organizations. Ron was formerly active in degree work and a line officer for both Carroll Lodge and the Jamestown Consistory and worked on meals for the Lodge and the Consistory's Annual Ox Roast. He enjoyed rais ing re placement dairy heifers and was a lifelong avid reader, though, with dementia, he was un able to comprehend what he read.
Ron is survived by his caregiver and wife of 54 years, Jean E. Nelson Pigman; three sons: Scott (Vera) Pigman of Pflugerville, TX, R. Aric Pigman of Frewsburg, Matthew Pigman of Columbus, OH; three granddaughters: Scottlyn Pigman (Nikolas Cropp) and Londyn Pigman, both of Frewsburg, and Alexia Pigman of Pflugerville; a sister, Georgia Pigman Lawrence (Michael); several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Joanne E. Nelson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Ernest, Edgar, Thomas, John, Joyce, Diane, Patricia, Mary; his in-laws, Lawrence and Jessie Nelson; and his brother-in-law, Bruce Nelson.
In keeping with Ron's wishes, no service or visitation will be observed.
