Rolland Southwick, of Jamestown, NY, passed away unexpectedly on September 18, 2026. Born on May 8, 1961, he was the son of the late Curtis and Ljubica Southwick, and was a lifelong Jamestown resident.
Rolland was known as someone to rely on and trust and was there for anyone in need. He will be remembered for his kind heart and generosity, as he helped both those, he was close with and total strangers, most of whom were unaware. He had a passion for playing and building guitars, noting Eddie Van Halen as a major inspiration. Aside from music he also enjoyed reading, watching action films and classic sitcoms, and cheering on the Buffalo Bills. He collected Star Trek memorabilia and had a fondness for science fiction and history. He could be goofy and make people laugh but also have deep intelligent conversations. Everyone who met him knew him to be a genuinely good man.
He will forever be missed by countless others. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by stepmother Marita Ekberg, a nephew, Brandon Matjoulis, and niece and grandniece Tara and Lexi Lampman, respectively.
Rolland is survived by his daughter, Karley (Jake) McGrath, a son James Stone; siblings, Tina (Jeff) Cain, Paul (Susie) Southwick, Curtis (Heidi) Southwick, and Ivonne (Gerard) Schuhmann; grandsons Jack and Roman; niece and nephews, Jenelle Bennett, Taylor, Mitchell, Paul, and Axton Southwick, and Zaiden Thach. He is also survived by his beloved Uncle Johnny.
