Mr. Herbert Eugene Ahlers, 92, of Robin Drive, DeLand, Florida, formerly of Napoli, NY, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 6, 2026 at home with his family at his side.
He was born December 17, 1933 in North Collins, NY, the son of the late Herbert and Mona (Brown) Ahlers. Herb attended North Collins High School and received a Masters in Education from Buffalo State.
An area resident for most of his life, Herb moved to the Randolph area in 1954 where he took a job as an Industrial Arts Teacher at Randolph Central School and also taught Drivers Ed, Ceramics and was a bowling coach, retiring in 1989.
In addition to being the proud father of five daughters, he also found the time to serve the Town of Napoli as Judge, worked road patrol as a Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Deputy and owned and operated a successful Polaris dealership and small engine service repair shop in Napoli.
After moving to Florida, he volunteered and was a past president of volunteers for Advent Hospital and served as president of the Home Owners and Residents Association of Meadow Lea Village in DeLand, Fl., where he resided for the past 26 years.
He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Napoli United Methodist Church and the Christian Family Worship Center in DeLand. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle across the country.
He is survived by four beloved daughters, Cindy (Dave) Covedill of Randolph, NY, Mona Dietrick of DeLand, Beth Fuller and Debbie (Greg) Myers all of Lockport, NY. He is additionally survived by 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his heart and soul of 68 years, his wife; Ardis M. (Darbee) Ahlers on September 29, 2021 and a daughter; Linda Bagley and two sisters; Christine and Dorothy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and will be announced by the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph, NY.
