Marvin D. Swanson, 85, of Frewsburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility with his wife, Kathy, by his side.
He was born on October 3, 1940 in Jamestown, a son of the late Harold and Jeanette Lindstrom Swanson.
He started school in a one room schoolhouse in Ivory before attending schools in Frewsburg and graduated from Frewsburg Central School.
Marvin was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War from 1963-1965.
He was a member of Samuel L. Derby American Legion Post 556 and the Ivory Baptist Church.
For many years, along with his wife Kathy, owned and operated a family dairy farm and also worked at Dawson Metal Co.
He enjoyed riding horses and watching races at Stateline Speedway.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathy M. Burch Swanson, whom he married July 3, 1971; two sons, Jason P. Swanson and Matt H. Swanson; a grandson, Tyler N. Swanson; and two sisters, Noelle (Howard) Dotson and Patricia (Dale) Rath.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 19, 2026 in Ivory Baptist Church. Pastor Don Reese will officiate.
Burial will be in Ivory Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 10-11 am on Saturday in the church.
