Louis J. Mazzie, 85, of Jamestown, died Tuesday September 22, 2026, in his home, surrounded by his family.
A native of Clarksburg, WV, he was born October 6, 1940, a son of the late Frank and Mary Spatafore Iconis.
Following graduation from high school, he earned a bachelor's degree in English and History from Salem College.
Prior to his retirement in 1996, he was employed by the Jamestown Public School District as an English teacher at Washinton Junior High School.
He was a communicant of Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
He was very active in his community serving as a docent at the Robert H. Jackson Center, a coxswain and rower at Chautauqua Lake Rowing Club, and a volunteer at St. Susan Center for many years.
After moving from his home on Hallock Street to the Lutheran Campus, he enjoyed playing bridge and billiards with his friends and neighbors.
Surviving are his wife, Rebecca Ross Mazzie, whom he married June 11, 1966; three daughters, Maria (Tim) Kindberg of Jamestown, Elizabeth (Jose) Mazzie-Hernandez of Shaker Heights, OH, and Emily (Patrick) Rowe of Hill City, SD; grandchildren, Jacob (Kristen Swann) Kindberg, Luke (Diamond) Kindberg, Andrew Tonkin, Juliet Tonkin, Lauren Rowe, Jessica Rowe, and Elise Rowe; and great grandchildren, Ara and Jace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister, Marie Shull and his brother, Albert Iconis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday in Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-6 pm Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
