JoAnn Micek, 86, of Jamestown passed away peacefully Wednesday (September 23, 2026) in her home.
A lifelong area resident she was born March 16, 1940 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late John and Dorothy Mount Ribbing.
JoAnn was a 1958 graduate of Jamestown High School. She was a dedicated homemaker for her entire life. JoAnn had a strong Christian faith and was a member of Fluvanna Community Church. She cherished time spent with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. JoAnn was a faithful volunteer at St. Susan's Center and enjoyed gardening, and the outdoors.
Surviving are her five children: Daniel (Jen) Micek of Bemus Point, Timothy (Shakita) Micek of Daniels, WV, Jill (John) Moore, David (Christy) Micek, Alison (Rick) Hammond all of Jamestown; fourteen grandchildren: Danielle (Cody) Johnson of Sinclairville, Josh (Marah) Micek of Jamestown, Jedidiah (Megan) Micek of Bemus Point, Trevor Micek of Quantico, VA, Amanda Micek of Colorado, Carly Micek of San Franisco, CA, Farrah Micek of Daniels, WV, Rhea (Seth) Moerkerke of Redding, CA, Sydney Moore of Erie, PA, Caleb (Hannah) Rowan of Nashville, TN, Amber (Brandon) Durnell of Jamestown, Zach Micek, Sylvia Hammond, Rocco Hammond all of Jamestown; seven great grandchildren: Mia, Maylee and Maddyn Micek, Liam Johnson, Silas Micek, Shepherd Moerkerke, Rowdy Rowan; a brother, Steve (Kay) Ribbing of Jamestown, and a sister, Donna (Harry) Devlieger of Salisbury, NC.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Micek whom she married August 29, 1959 in Jamestown, who died November 13, 1984.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (September 29, 2026) in the Fluvanna Community Church. Rev. Todd Wentworth and Rev. Dayle Keefer will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.
Friends will be received by the family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the funeral service Tuesday in the church.
