Joann M. Ransom

Joann M. Ransom, 90, of Lamberton, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, at HighPointe on Michigan in Buffalo, NY.

She was born on May 24, 1936, in Jamestown, NY, to the late Harold and Anna (Brooks) Parker. Joann was a graduate of Southwestern Central School in Lakewood, NY.

On January 7, 1956, Joann married the love of her life, Edward Ransom. They shared 62 years of marriage before his passing. Together, they were not only life partners but also business partners, working side by side on their family farm, R Fruit Farms, in Lamberton.

Joann dedicated many years of her career to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles in Dunkirk, where she worked as a clerk before retiring.

Joann found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved shopping and cooking, but she especially enjoyed baking pies for her family and loved ones. Her kindness, warmth, and the memories she created with those around her will be deeply cherished by all who knew and loved her. Joann will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by one son, Dale (Donna) Ransom of Fredonia, NY; three daughters, Peggy Jo (Louis) Szczukowski of Fredonia, NY, Diane J. Hockert (Bruce Whitten) of Smithville, TN and Bonnalyn J. O'Malley (Ken Makelke) of Hamburg, NY; 14 grandchildren, Louis (Stefanie) Szczukowski, Jacob (Robyn) Szczukowski, Daniel (Michelle) Szczukowski, Christopher Hockert, Tara Hockert (Angel Roldan), Cassandra (Tim) Slade, Dakota (Alyssa) Hockert, Derrick (Janine) Ransom, Dustin (Brittany) Ransom, Drew (Erin) Ransom, Dale Nicholas (Pamela) Ransom, Keshia (Daniel) Seavy, Colin (Mohini) O'Malley, and Kenneth Makelke Jr.; and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Carol (Charles) Patton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Alfred Parker.

Relatives and friends may visit Morse Funeral Home, 19 E. Main St., Brocton, NY, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
