Ellen M. Carr, 86, of East Randolph, passed away Sunday (September 6, 2026) at the UPMC-Chautauqua Hospital in Jamestown.
Ellen was born December 29, 1939 in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Harold William and Mildred M. (Smith) Carr.
She was a 1957 graduate of Randolph Central School and prior to her retirement, had been employed at Alltel Telephone Company in Jamestown.
Ellen was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Randolph and also served on the Vestry, decoration committee, was the church historian and was a member of the Episcopal Women's Association.
She was life-long member of the Randolph American Legion Unit 181 Auxiliary, Randolph VFW Post 6533 Auxiliary, Coldspring Fire Department as a Social Member, Randolph Garden Club and Golden Keys, and was a member of the former Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in East Randolph.
She enjoyed spending time with her large family, gardening, working in her yard, working on family genealogy and traveling with her sister Bonnie and brother Samuel.
She is survived two sisters; Kay Crossley of Bemus Point and Bonnie Demeter of Randolph, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Phyllis Ann Wienke and Doris Elaine Carr, four brothers; H. Gene Carr, B. Neil Carr, James Carr and Samuel Carr.
A Memorial Service will be held (September 19, 2026) at 11:00 AM from the Grace Episcopal Church, 21 Washington Street in Randolph. The Rev. Colleen O'Conner, church pastor will officiate. Burial Inurnment will be in the East Randolph Cemetery.
