Ed passed at home in North Port, Florida after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ed graduated from Erie's East Rutherford High School where he played on the golf and basketball teams earning scholarships, and attended Gannon College of Erie.
Upon graduating, Ed entered the Army from 1953-1955 and served with the 2nd General Hospital at Landstuhl, Germany as an Occupational and Educational Specialist.
Upon leaving the Army, he became a teacher at Sherman Central School from 1956-1960. He also served as their basketball coach where the team won the South County Southern League VI Championshiop in 1957-1958.
Ed's daughter, Paula Heilbrun resides in Hickory North Carolina.
On September 25, 1987, Ed married Margie Hallberg of Bemus Point, New York.
They enjoyed traveling with the Schusters from Michigan and Florida throughout Europe, Canada, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edwards Island friends for many years. They've also traveled through Hawaii, US and Mexico joining friends on numerous cruises throughout the Carribean Islands.
Celebrations of life will be held in North Port, Florida in December 2026, and another Celebration of Life will be held in summer of 2027 at the Vikings Lake Park where they where they spend most summers on Chautauqua Lake.
