Brian D. Hurd, 78, of Maple Springs, died Tuesday September 22, 2026, in UPMC Chautauqua.
Born October 17, 1947, in Brookville, PA, a son of Lester and Jesse Wonderling Hurd.
Following graduation from Brookville High School, Brian served in the US Army from 1967-69 during the Vietnam War.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 10 years at MRC/TRW in Jamestown and then for over 30 years by Cummins Jamestown Engine Plant as an electrician. Following retirement, he took great pride in helping people with small electrical jobs.
An outdoorsman at heart, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He shared his passion for nature as an instructor for New York State in hunter safety and archery.
Surviving is his wife, Barbara Snyder Hurd, whom he married December 22, 1967; a son Kevin Hurd of Ashville; a grandson, Jacob McMaster of Maple Springs; a sister, Linnea Himes of Jamestown and a son in law, Rob Loomis of West Ellicott.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Loomis and a brother Ronald Hurd.
Friends will be received from 1-3 pm Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home where a brief funeral service will begin at 3 pm Sunday. All are welcome to a time of food and fellowship at the Maple Springs Fire Hall following the service.
