Betty Mae (Buesink) Dewey, 91, of Clymer, NY, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at her daughter's home.
She was born April 16, 1935, in the town of Mina, NY, the daughter of Walter D. and Lucy Mae (Tanner) Buesink.
Betty was a 1953 graduate of Sherman Central School. After graduation, she married her husband, Perry T. Dewey, Jr, August 14, 1953, and they purchased the family dairy farm where she and her husband worked the farm until his death in 2015. Then, she and her son, Ted, continued to grow crops and raise beef animals. Betty and Perry shipped milk to the Dairylea Cooperative, Inc. for 61 years, and Perry served as a Dairylea board member. Betty traveled with him across the country to meetings where she participated in the Dairylea women's organization and made lifelong friends.
Throughout the years, she was a Girl Scout leader, American Field Service (AFS) member, Minerva Library board member and supported the Chautauqua County Dairy Princess program. As the grandmother of very active 4-H and FFA members, she spent weeks at the county fair every summer and served as a contest judge. She was a member of Edwards Chapel Church in Clymer, NY and more recently attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Corry, PA. Betty's hobbies included bowling, knitting and crocheting - she enjoyed making afghans and Christmas stockings for her grandchildren. Her happiest times were spent raising calves and kids and being with her family.
Betty is survived by her children, Terry DeLellis of Sherman, NY; Perry Todd Dewey (Elaine Early) of Madison, NY and Karen (Stan) Paszko of Erie; 10 grandchildren Ken (Kim) Damcott, Coleen "Mazie" (Bill) Damcott-Schofield, Gary (Julie) DeLellis, Joe (Michelle) DeLellis, Ted R. Dewey II, Theresa (Abou) Coulibaly, Danielle (Joshua) Gavin, Jacob Morton, Jessica (Devon) Clark and Stephanie (Matt) Hearn; 12 great-grandchildren, Taylor DeLellis (Dakota Parkhurst), Belen and Jordi Damcott, James, Amelia, and Joey DeLellis, Savannah Dewey, Tima, Malia and Abdrah Coulibaly, Conor and Jacob Gavin; a sister, Joyce Laramie; and brother- and sister-in-law, Perry and Doris Beckerink. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her special cousin Joan Musgrave of San Diego, California.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry T. Dewey, Jr.; son, Ted R. Dewey; son-in-law, Gary DeLellis, Sr.; brother-in-law, Melvin Laramie; brother and sister-in-law, David and Roberta Dewey; brother and sister-in-law Gary and Debbie McCown.
The family would like to thank her Hospice Care Team for the wonderful care she received. A very special Thank You to Darla Phelps from Community Connections of Findley Lake for the special bond she and Betty made over the time Darla cared for her. Pastor Brian Eiss for all his home visits and being there when needed.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, October 17th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 201 E. South St, Corry, PA 16407 from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service there at 12 noon. Rev. Brian Eiss will officiate.
Burial will take place in Sherman Cemetery, Sherman, NY.
