It is with great sadness that the family of Abraham W. "Abe" Rosenberg, 76, of Jamestown, N.Y. shares the news of his recent passing on Friday, September 4, 2026, following an extended illness.
Abe was born on June 12, 1950, in The Bronx, New York, the first of Mary and Ben Rosenberg's storied six sons.
Abe attended Jamestown area schools and was a member of the Jamestown High School class of 1968 before he enlisted in the US Army during which he served in the Vietnam War until 1974. He was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX.
Abe always possessed a larger-than-life persona, was friendly, gregarious, congenial and of great assistance, traits that served him well in both his career endeavors and in social circles where he often took leadership roles. Using medical training he learned during his years of military service, Abe was a humorous and tension-easing phlebotomist in early years at the former WCA Hospital, followed by subsequent sales-related professions with Rochester Midland and Beltone Hearing Aids, among others. His community efforts included several terms as a president of the Temple Hesed Abraham congregation and as long-standing president of the local Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of Jamestown and served as a Mason in the local Chapter.
Abe was a devoted father enthusiastically mentoring his son and two daughters and was a supportive brother to his siblings and their families. "Being Papa was the joy of his life".
Abe is survived by his wife Patricia "Patty" (Larson) Rosenberg, whom he married on August 25th,1978 and they just recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary, his son: Marc (Jessica) Carraher of Falconer, N.Y.; two daughters: Jessica Harvey and Erin Beckstrom both of Frewsburg, N.Y.; his grandchildren: Donovan, Cameron, Brennen and Kylie Carraher, Zophia, Emma and Kloe Lord all of Falconer, N.Y., Abery, Lily and Caden Harvey, Drake Brayden and Brynnleigh Beckstrom all of Frewsburg, N.Y.; five brothers: David Rosenberg of Clearwater, FL, Alex Rosenberg of Randolph, N.Y., Aaron (Jody) Rosenberg of Fayetteville, N.C., Ron (Carey) Rosenberg of Bemus Point, N.Y. and Michael Rosenberg of Buffalo, N.Y.; two sons-in-laws: Matt Harvey and Brad Beckstrom.
