Stephen W. Shurkus, 33, of Jamestown, NY died Saturday August 1, 2026, at UPMC Chautauqua.
He was born June 27, 1993, in Virginia Beach, VA, the son of Becky Marsh-Nelson.
He was a graduate of Falconer Central School and was an agent for Geico Insurance for many years.
Stephen was the kind of son a mother could only wish and pray for. He always went above and beyond to make sure his loved ones felt appreciated and knew just how much he cared. He always gave the best hugs, and you could just tell that he was genuinely happy to see you. His children were the light of his life, and he had a very special and unique relationship with each of them. He enjoyed gaming with them, watching wrestling with them, watching tv shows, cuddling, going to camp, watching the girls perform their impromptu talent shows in the kitchen, playing police officer; the list is endless. Stephen was an absolutely amazing chef and loved to make delicious meals for his family, even if there were sometimes five different meals for one dinner. He would do anything to put a smile on their faces.
Surviving is his mother, Becky (Steve) Marsh-Nelson of Jamestown, NY; his wife, Cheyenne Spicer Shurkus, whom he married February 29, 2020; five children, Kaiden, Kiwi, Piper, Daisy and Blossom Shurkus; dear friend, Megan Spicer; Aunt, Lori Koehnlein, Uncle, John (Shawn) Marsh, Uncle, Jay (Robin) Marsh, Uncle, James Lundsten; Aunt, Patty Calimeri and Aunt, Kim Lundsten and so many cousins, friends and extended family too numerous to mention.
He was preceded in death by; grandparents, Betty and John Marsh who helped raise him; great grandparents, Gladys and Bill Marsh and Shirley and Carl Lundsten; Uncle, Shaun Marsh and cousins, Mathew Burton and Theresa Marsh.
The funeral will be held at 1pm Friday August 7, 2026, in the Lind Funeral Home. Family and friends will be received from 11am-1pm Friday prior to the funeral.
Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
