Ronald Wayne Anderson, 81, originally of Jamestown, NY but residing in Escondido, CA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in Hamilton, New Jersey.
He was born March 11, 1945, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Leslie G. and Helene A. Anderson. Ron was a 1963 graduate of Jamestown High School and later graduated from the University of Buffalo in 1968 with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Upon graduation from college, Ron and his new bride headed to Los Angeles, CA to pursue work opportunities, and remained in CA until his passing.
Ron worked as a civil engineer for the city of Los Angeles for about 10 years, and then moved to Escondido in Northern San Diego County, where he rose through the ranks becoming the city's Engineer and then Assistant Director of Public Works. Ron retired in 2004 to enjoy time with family and friends.
Ron loved spending time with his family, playing tennis, and playing cards (especially bridge.) He was a board member for many years for the City of Escondido's Federal Credit Union, enjoyed participating in weekly football pools, attending San Diego Padre games, and was infamous for tinkering in the garage or yard for hours. He had the opportunity to travel, and particularly enjoyed trips to England, Scandinavia (where he explored his ancestry), the Baltic, and Alaska.
Ron will be remembered as a family man, hard worker, dedicated mentor and someone who earned the respect of all.
Surviving is his wife of almost 60 years, Sandra Anderson of Escondido, CA, his son, David Anderson, and his grandchildren, Peyton and Declan Anderson, all of New Hope, PA, as well as his son-in-law, sister-in-law and nieces. Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen (Anderson) Ahlstrom.
In keeping with Ron's wishes, a small graveside funeral service for family will take place and no visitation will be observed. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
