Niles W. Hadley ("Jigger"), of Conewango Valley, NY passed away on Wednesday (August 12, 2026), after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer with his wife (Mabel) of nearly 64 years and family by his side. He is now in the care of his lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Niles was born to M Raymond Hadley and Ethel (Risley) Hadley on March 20th, 1943, in Jamestown, NY.
After living in Ellington, NY and on Route 83 of Conewango Valley, he moved to Axeville road at the age of seven. Niles was a 1961 graduate of Randolph Central High School. After graduation, Niles was employed on the family farm and also worked at the canning factory in South Dayton. With his father, he started Hadley & Son Construction in 1966, and until this year when he became ill, he was still actively doing concrete jobs through the age of 82. One of the greatest proud moments was the fact that he had worked at Holiday Valley for over 45 years consecutively. He installed the bases for all their ski lifts, he worked on the coaster ride and he also did all the flat work for their hotel and convention center. Jigger had a passion for his work and was proud of every job he did. His greatest passion was family and friends. Through the years Dad became a very respected businessman and was known since a wee lad as "Jigger". Niles was very skillful at repairing any piece of equipment and putting it back together, making it better than it was before it broke.
Jigger had a heart of gold and would give his shirt off his back to anyone that needed help and never thought twice about it, nor did he expect any form of payment but a good ole fashion "Thank You". One of his favorite sayings after helping someone was "just pay it forward". We all could learn a great lesson from his actions. Jigger was a man of the utmost integrity and very humble.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, 10 months, and 14 days Mabel E. (Oakes) Hadley, a sister, Sharon Mason, Frewsburg, NY. Two Daughters, Vicky Snyder of Merriam KS, Dawn Hadley of Horton, KS, two sons, Raymond (Vicki) of South Dayton NY, Cory (Lisa) of Randolph, NY. 15 grandchildren, and 14 Great grandchildren. As dad would put it he had three bonus grandchildren, nine bonus great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his Father and Mother, his son, Dennis, a grandson, Cameron and one of his bonus great grandchildren, Levi.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-7 PM Sunday (August 16, 2026) from the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph. Services will also take place there at 11:00 AM Monday. Sue Hadley will officiate. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Ellington.
