Marian Louise Culver, 93, of Cassadaga, N.Y., went to be with the Lord, on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunkirk, N.Y. She was born on September 28th, 1932, to the late Ruth and Hollis Petersen in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She grew up in Falconer, N.Y., and spent the rest of her life in Chautauqua County. She married Louis Culver Jr. on July 1st, 1950, and they shared 59 years of marriage.
She worked for the Cassadaga Valley Central School District in food service for 25 years and was the Head Cook at Cassadaga Elementary at the time of her retirement. Whether she was serving, cooking, or baking, she thoroughly enjoyed the time she had with the students and staff, and many lifelong friendships were made.
She enjoyed being a member of the TOPS Organization, teaching Sunday School, singing in the church choir, playing cards, dancing, golfing, knitting, sewing, crafting, and later in her life, walking around Cassadaga Lake with her girlfriends. Yet nothing brought her more joy than being with her family. She touched many lives and will be remembered as a woman of faith who was kind and loving until the very end.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Dick) Mangine of Cherry Creek and Elaine (Rob) Moore of Beckemeyer, IL; four grandchildren, Darren (Erin) Mangine of Punta Gorda, FL, Lisa (Chris) Jones of Henderson, NV, Nikki (Jim) Rosswog of Pittsburgh, PA, and Amy Todd of Henderson, NV; six great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and four step-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Culver, her brother, Hollis Petersen, and her sisters, Lois Peterson and Donna Ring.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bergquist Assisted Living, Heritage Village Nursing, and Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab for their compassionate care.
A private burial will be held at the Cassadaga Cemetery. A Memorial service is being planned and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cassadaga Volunteer Fire Department at 22 Mill St. P.O. Box 226, Cassadaga, N.Y. 14718 or the Cassadaga Cemetery Association at P.O.
