Lori E. Abel

1964-2026

Lori E. Abel, 62, of Jamestown, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at STAR Hospice House. She was born in Buffalo on August 12, 1964, to Carol Young Abel and the late John Abel.

Lori lived her years both believing and teaching that people are inherently good. She had constant compassion for others and cared deeply about humankind.

A proud single mother raising two children, Lori had fierce independence and remained a private person. She was the caregiver of the family, being the soul everyone turned to in times of need. Her present support never failed.

A teacher for over 30 years, Lori spent decades at the G.A. Children's Home educating those in whom others did not want to. Her knack for instructing special education with Jamestown Public Schools showed that Lori never backed away from supporting someone.

Lori loved growing plants, fostering the greenery of hostas. So, too, she enjoyed photography, as she had a keen eye for capturing the good found in experiences.

Family meant the world to Lori. She especially cherished time with her sisters and adored spending days with her grandchildren.

Her soul will live on through her children, Justin (Erika) Hubbard and Katheryne (Yossi) Leigh-Osroosh; her grandchildren, Landon Hubbard, Ilana Hubbard, Diyana Osroosh, and Beatrice Osroosh; her siblings, Cindy Abel, Karen Czesak, Missy Abel, and Nancy Youngman; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her father, Lori was preceded in death by her brother, David Abel.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 12-2pm Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Lind Funeral Home. The memorial service will be at 4pm Thursday at Lind's. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Audubon Community Nature Center to uphold Lori's love for nature, 1600 Riverside Rd, Jamestown, NY 14701.
