Loren L. “Tyke” Bly

Loren L. "Tyke" Bly, 87, of Bemus Point and Nokomis, Fla., passed away Friday, August 7, 2026 at his home in Bemus Point.

He was born on August 30, 1938 in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Loren P. and Marjorie Looker Bly. He attended Cuba (NY) Central School, graduating as Valedictorian in 1956. While attending Cuba Central Loren served as Class President, NHS President and was selected to the All-Conference Football team.

Upon graduation from Cuba Central School, Loren attended Bucknell University graduating in 1960 with his Bachelor's Degree in Education. Loren thereafter attended Albany Law School. On November 23, 1961, Loren was married to Jane Cotner of Danville, PA.

In addition to his wife Jane, Loren is survived by three children and their families. A son, Loren Michael "Mike" (Janet) Bly of Dayton, OH and their children, David Bly and Matthew (Krista) Bly and their son, Brooks Bly, Kenneth C. (Margie) Bly of Pittsburgh and their children, Kathryn (Mark) DeVita, Jaclyn (fiance Jacob Hoot) Bly, Andrew Bly and Nathan Bly, Elizabeth (David) DuBois of Bemus Point and their children Kenzie (John) Donohue and children Hayley & Barrett, Mitchell (Sarah) Sandberg and their son, Asher, Richard (Laura) DuBois and children, Ben & Owen, and Dalton DuBois. Also surviving is Loren's sister, Lynne (John) Bly-Harrington of Chisago City, MN. Loren was a great brother-in law and Uncle to the entire Cotner family and is survived by many dear friends.

Loren was involved in many professional and civic associations, including Cattaraugus County Bar Association (past President); Jamestown, New York State and American Bar Associations; past Vice Chairman of the South and Central Chautauqua Lake Sewer District; and member of First Presbyterian Church of Jamestown.

Loren's many interests included golfing, sailing, trap shooting, photography, skiing, reading, but above all loving his wife and being surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 13th in Bellinger Chapel of First Presbyterian Church in Jamestown, NY. The family will greet friends in Fellowship Hall of the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service.
