Janice E. Steele, 81, of Falconer went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 24, 2026 at UPMC Hamot Hospital, Erie, PA.
A lifelong area resident, she was born December 20, 1944 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late J. Harold and Hazel Cooper Lindquist.
Janice was a 1963 graduate of Falconer High School and attended Jamestown Community College. In her earlier years, Janice was employed by Naetzer & Thorsell Architecture, Carlson's Pharmacy, and prior to retirement in 1999, was employed by Heritage Village as an administrative assistant.
She was a past member of the Kennedy Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and was active in Sunday School for many years, serving as a teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and Christian Education Director. She enjoyed extensive European travel with her husband.
Surviving is her husband, J. Mark Steele whom she married August 7, 1965 in Falconer; two children: Sandra Thies of Falconer, J. Michael Steele (Laura Smith) of Frewsburg; six grandchildren: Andrew (Carrie) Thies, Matthew (Holly) Thies, John Thies (Emma Gillebaard), Jordan Steele, Megan Steele, and Emma Steele; two great grandsons: Thomas Duff-Thies, and Forrest Thies; two sisters: Joyce Stevenson, and Jeanne (James) Vanstrom; and a large number of nieces, nephews and school friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Beatrice Lindquist in 1942.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm on Friday, August 28th at the Falconer Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday, August 29th at 11 am. Pastor Brandon Meacham will officiate. Burial will be in the Levant Cemetery, Falconer.
