It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother Frances T. "Frannie" Greco, formerly of 277 Ivy Street, on Sunday August 23, 2026, at the age of 98.
A lifelong Jamestown resident, she was born June 3, 1928, the youngest of five children to Frank and Sara Raffa Brigiotta.
Graduating from Jamestown High School in 1946, her yearbook was filled with signings from classmates regarding her friendliness, joy of dancing, and her love of all life can offer.
On August 12, 1950, Frances married Sam and began a life as a stay-at-home mom raising three boys, Frank, Dan and Steven. She loved being a wife and mother and was very involved in her sons' lives. She attended every event and one year she and another mom volunteered to coach a minor league baseball team when no one else was available.
After raising her children, Frances began a new chapter of her life. She became a beautician, fell in love with golf and spent many years enjoying life with her friends. "The Gang", as she called them, the Constantinos, Mistrettas, Ericksons, LaBarbaras, Ecklunds, Clarks and many more, lived their lives to the fullest. No one lived and loved life with more enthusiasm than Frannie.
Another of her passions was shopping. She was always on the lookout for a good buy. She went shopping every Saturday with her niece Sally Matey. Finding a bargain was her specialty and she seldom left one in the store. She was very generous and bought things for others as well as herself.
As much as she enjoyed friends and socializing, Frannie spent her entire life completely devoted to her family. Weekends and holidays were spent enjoying food, games and conversation with her parents, brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews.
For more than 71 years, she was very happy and proud to be Mrs. Sam Greco. Her love and devotion to her true love Sam, was unconditional.
Frances is survived by her sons, Frank( Kim) Greco of Falconer, Daniel (Carol) Greco of Jamestown and Steven Greco of Jamestown; six grandchildren, Frank (Megan) Greco, Michael (Jessica) Carlson, Daniel (Heather) Greco, Michelle (Glen) Giles and Megan and Hillary Heath; seven great grandchildren Rose, Conrad, Grant, Aubrey, Camden, Corey and Kayla; nieces, Sally Matey, Toni Davis and Trina Pizzo; nephew Robert Pizzo; sister in law, Mickey Pappalardo and cousins, Josie Constantino, Mary DiNapoli and Tony Raffa.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Greco, January 16, 2022; brothers, Tony and Sam Brigiotta; sisters, Sally Sanfilippo and Mary Pizzo and daughter-in-law, Virginia Greco.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Heritage Park, especially Barb, Kana, Brent, Helen and Sherrie, for their patience and loving care for Frannie during her time there.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday in St. James Catholic Church. Visitation will not be observed.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Chautauqua County Humane Society.
