Donald Gunnard Carlson

1959-2026

Donald Gunnard Carlson, 67, of Falconer passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026, after battling heart and pulmonary issues.

He was born July 21, 1959, in Jamestown, the son of the late Gillis and June Shanahan Carlson.

Don was a 1977 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Erie Community College. Prior to his retirement, Don was known as a meticulous self-employed painter and general contractor.

For his entire life he was a diehard fan of the Buffalo Bills, and he especially loved spending time at two special cottages on Chautauqua Lake. He cherished his four cats, and many knew him as "Uncle Don". Don enjoyed his own apartment at the home of his sister Shirley and late brother-in-law, Barry Leyman.

In addition to Shirley, he is survived by his sister, Sally (Robert) Pray of Stow, nephews, James and Martin Godwin, Robert Pray and a niece, Emily Haller, and several great nieces and great nephews. He will also be missed by close cousins and long-time friends.
