David Crane Lewis, 84, of Abbeville, husband of Marie Danielson Lewis, died Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at his home. He was born in Boston, MA to the late Ralph Webster Lewis and Fredrica Ellen Crane Lewis.
Dave, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Bridgeton Academy in North Bridgeton, ME. He pursued his education, earning his Master's degree from the University of Rochester. With a keen business sense and a drive for excellence, Dave established himself as a charter life underwriting company for 30 years.
Beyond his successful career, he took great joy in following his passions. Dave was deeply involved in the world of motor vehicle racing, serving as an official in the CCS motorcyle racing community for many years as a pit steward. He worshipped at New Grace Church in Abbeville, SC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Franja C. Lewis.
Dave is survived by his wife of 26 years, Marie; two children, Kris Lewis and Dana Webster Lewis; granddaughter, Logan Rae Lewis Thompson and her husband, Shay; and brother-in-law, Daniel Sanders. A celebration of Dave's life will be 12:30PM, Sunday, August 30, 2026, at New Grace Church in Abbeville, SC with a luncheon to follow.
