Charles K. Gardner

1938-2026

Charles K. Gardner, 88, of Jamestown, died Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Premier Genesee Center, Batavia.

Born March 14, 1938, in Dunkirk, he was the son of Kermit and Dorothy Burns Gardner.

He earned a degree in Science from Brockport State College and later a master’s degree from Fredonia State College.

His teaching career began in Brocton and Rochester before being hired by the Jamestown Public School District and working at Fairmount, Lincoln and Persell schools.

He was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and the Jamestown Area Bowling Association serving as secretary/treasurer for 12 years. Charles was an avid golfer and bowler. He loved the Yankees and the Buffalo Bills.

Surviving are two sons William (Tammy) Gardner of Jamestown and Robert (Joanie Drocy) Gardner of Lakewood; grandchildren Bianca Gardner, William Gardner, Morgan Walker, Bryan Gardner, Jessica (Jason) Davis, Tom Caruso, Joshua Devlieger, and Brittany Love; several great grandchildren; stepdaughters Julia Love and Tina (Ken) Morely, both of Jamestown and his longtime companion Lois Stoutzenberger of Lancaster, PA.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Anne Waite Gardner; a grandson Robert Gardner, Jr. and a stepson Ernest Love.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
