Violet A. Atkins

1942-2026

Violet A. Atkins, 83, of Jamestown, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026 in UPMC Chautauqua.

She was born on September 12, 1942 in Punxsutawney, PA, a daughter of the late Lewis L. and Bertha M. Bish Anthony.

Violet was a 1960 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central High School.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frewsburg.

Prior to retiring, she was employed at the Chautauqua Hardware Corp.

Faith was a very important part of Violet’s life. She enjoyed collecting, toys were her favorite. Prior to her recent health decline, she was a very outgoing and social person who made friends everywhere she went.

She is survived by her husband, William T. “Bill” Atkins; a son, Paul Leroy Clark; two sisters, Yvonne Storer and Kathryn R. Cowan; close friends Kenneth and Sue Devine; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Twila Ewing and Dorothy Rupert; four brothers: John S. Anthony, George B. Anthony, Robert W. Anthony, Daniel T. Anthony; and a brother-in-law, L. Neil Storer.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. Rev. Kenneth Devine will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received for one hour prior (11am- 12pm) to the service on Wednesday in the funeral home.
