Terry G. Hunt, 86, passed away after over a decade of courageous health battles. He was the son of Stanley E. and Mary B. Trubic Hunt.
A member of the Southwestern Class of 1958, Terry completed courses at Jamestown Community College. His innate dedication to work defined his life. Sysco Foods and, formerly, Flickinger Co., knew Terry as a success story of a food service salesman.
Terry was awarded a certificate of recognition in 1985 for sales in excess of $3 million. Then, in 1991, he received the Sysco Torchbearer Club honor for exceptional marketing performance, dedication, service, and professionalism. As a sales rep of the month many times, his paramount statement was, "the biggest thing is being reliable. If you're reliable, sooner or later you'll get the business."
Terry's first call on Mondays before retirement was the Cherry Lounge. The bonds he fostered carried into the retirement tradition of coffee with Tom and Dawn and the rest of the regulars every Monday morning.
Occupational fondness left Terry uneasy following retirement in 2006. Thus, he continued to aid others through driving the CARTS buses and working the booth at Chautauqua Institution until his health limited his capacity.
In petite moments of free time, Terry took a fancy to detailing his vehicles. His cars were nothing short of pristine and perpetuated his joy in traveling to car shows.
Terry remained active working on many of his class reunions with other members and their spouses. He was a proud member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club for over 50 years, being especially proud of his card number, "51."
Terry's favorite pastime was going out to dinner, savoring every course he ordered. So, too, he and his wife Connie spent late springs and early falls scavenging shells on the beaches of Sanibel Island. His days were not complete without ice cream cone outings.
As proud grandparents, Terry and Connie traveled to Illinois for their granddaughters' birthday and Christmas each year until Terry's health no longer allowed for travel.
Terry leaves behind his wife, Connie D. Hunt; his daughter, Candee (Jim) Abraham; and his granddaughters, Ellee Abraham and Abbee Abraham.
Besides his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Hunt.
No formal services or visitation will be observed. Private family burial will be in Valley View Cemetery.
