Robert D. “Bob” Bruce Sr.

1944-2026

Robert D. Bruce Sr., 82, of Lakewood passed away unexpectedly on Friday (July 10, 2026) in his home.

He was born on January 22, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Ervin S. Bruce and Catherine Falana Bruce.

Robert was a graduate of St. Matthew High school in Philadelphia and was a proud tool and die maker by trade, retiring from Producto (Ring and Pierce All) Machine Company in Jamestown after 32 years.

Bob was a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 Sons of the American Legion in Celoron. He was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing, both by himself and with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His greatest passion in life was fly fishing, evidenced by his ability to expertly name every kind of fish in the Alleghany River. Bob and his beloved wife Joyce shared countless joyful memories of their time as part of the Country Club Dancers, moonlighting as Six-Gun Sammy and his best girl Annie! Once they hung up their dancing shoes and cowboy hats, they still made sure to savor every impromptu slow dance in the kitchen.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Ellen Lowery Bruce, whom he married June 15, 1963 in Philadelphia, PA; a son, Robert David (Kimberly) Bruce Jr. of Jamestown; a daughter, Donna Marie (Joseph) Cuifolo of Frewsburg; four grandchildren: Krista Marie (Russell) Steward, Dr. Kayla Nicole (Brian) Cuifolo-Dodd, Nicholas Robert Bruce, and Alyssa Kimberly (Tyler) Cloos; six great grandchildren: Rusty, Cash, Joey, Toby, Dillon, and Brian; a brother, Richard David (Karen) Bruce of Celeron, a sister, Kathleen Ann (Charles) Gemmi of Pennsburg, Pa; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Ervin S. Bruce in 1987, and his mother Catherine Falana Bruce in 2011.

Visitation will not be observed.

A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
