Margaret “Peggy” Ann Beck Cole
Margaret “Peggy” Ann Beck Cole, 74, of Dewittville, NY, passed away on July 4, 2026, at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA. She was born August 10, 1951, in New Kensington, PA, the daughter of the late Wilmer Beck and Margaret H. Everhart Kocher.
Peggy was a 1969 graduate of Mayville Central School. She had worked as a truck driver for Regal Service in Ripley, NY.
Peggy belonged to the Mayville American Legion Post 493 and the Lake Chautauqua VFW Post 8647 and was a former member of the Hartfield Fire Department. She enjoyed reading books, watching murder mystery movies, and giving to charities, especially to animal rescues.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence E. “Butch” Cole, whom she married October 31, 1984, three children, William (Jessica) Osthagen of Westfield, NY, Vikki (Larry II) Oaks of Sugar Grove, PA, and Tracy (Will) Ecker of Mayville, NY, four step-sons, Rick (Jennifer) Cole of Old Town, FL, Robert (June) Cole of Chiefwood, FL, Doug (Joanne) Cole of Chiefwood, FL, and Billy Joe (Patti) Cole of Old Town, FL, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and three beloved fur-babies, Barney, Booger and Abby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Bill Beck.
The family will receive friends for calling hours at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S Erie St) from 2-4 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2026. A celebration of life will follow immediately after at the Lake Chautauqua VFW (10 Memorial Drive, Mayville).
Memorial donations can be made to the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue (7540 N. Gale St, Westfield, NY 14787) and to the Freay Funeral Home to help offset costs.
