Joe spent many years working in local factories, namely Art Metal and Essex Chemical. His occupational diligence provided steadfast support to his six children.
With the love of his life, Jean, Joe took ballroom dancing lessons in earlier years and fancied nights out moving to the rhythm of big bands. They rotated homes with their ’39 Club’ friends each week, cherishing the camaraderie of fellow couples and merriment.
Playing cards served as a favorite pastime for Joe. In more recent years, he adhered to watching television and became a staple of the breakfast scene at The Dinner Bell.
A US Army Veteran, Joe served as a medic in the Korean War from 1952-54 and, then, continued his call in the reserves for a time. With his military allegiance came a National Defense Service Medal of Honor.
Joe’s community involvement spanned from the VFW Post 53 to the American Legion Post 1286; further, he served as the Vice President of the Lost Neighborhood Committee. A lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church, Joe was a former Knight of Columbus and belonged to the Holy Name Society.
