Gary W. Carlson, 79, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, following a courageous battle with Alzheimers Disease.
Born on June 2, 1947, in Jamestown, NY, Gary was the son of the late Robert and Gladys S. Carlson. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents and his aunt and uncle, Robert and Gloria Wheelhouse.
Gary graduated from Jamestown High School class of '65. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Police officer during the Vietnam War. He then attended Jamestown Community College and SUNY Oneonta. Following graduation, he returned to Jamestown where he owned and operated Pri-Det Investigations for many years before relocating to Fort Myers, Florida.
Gary and his wife Connie owned the Hadley House restaurant in Stow, NY, where many people enjoyed good food, good music and good times.
Gary embraced life with a spirit of adventure. He had a love of boating and sailing and found great joy on the water. Whether he was skiing, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, or enjoying the Florida sunshine, Gary treasured the freedom of the outdoors and the experiences he shared with family and friends. His adventurous nature, warm heart, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Connie; his children, Adam of Florida, Coury (Dawn) of Kentucky, Adam and Coury's mother, Cheryl, step children, Katie Linamen (Carl) of Bemus Point, NY, Darren Saulsgiver (Christina) of Gerry, NY; his cherished grandchildren, Aria, Monty, Savannah, Carter, Parker, Paxton, Ella and Ann, and cousins Cindy Sapp, Lynn Kinnear and Bob Wheelhouse.
Gary will be deeply missed by his family, many friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
