David Rhodes of Clark Ave., Jamestown, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Born in Jamestown, he later moved to Bemus Point, where he attended Bemus Point Schools. During his school years, he participated in chorus and sports, and was a member of his father's Boy Scout troop, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated with the class of 1958. Following graduation, he attended NYU and subsequently served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1966.
David loved Chautauqua Lake and was an excellent fisherman, boater, and ice skater. He also enjoyed bowling, tennis, and cross-country skiing. He frequently traveled to Pittsburgh to watch the NY Mets, and he enjoyed watching tennis matches and Buffalo Bills games. David also had a wonderful passion for history and science, often spending hours on his computer to learn and add to his knowledge.
His employment history included roles at Ring Punch and Die, Nelson Bros. Lumber, and Historical vintage furniture.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Nelson Rhodes, whom he married December 31,1968, and four nieces and nephews, Mary (Bill) Nelson- Bouck, Thomas(Debbie) Nelson, Kathy(Jim)Nelson-Henshaw, and Robert (Mary Kalski) Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Elsa Nordstrand Rhodes, a sister, Ann Rhodes Young and a brother, Cecil Rhodes.

No funeral service or visitation will be observed. Memorial donations may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society or a charity of choice.
