Curtis Daniels

Curtis Daniels, 77, passed away on July 15, 2026, at his residence in Lakewood, NY. He was born on September 12, 1948, in Americus, Georgia but his life and friendships grew from decades both in Detroit, Michigan and Jamestown, NY.

He had many blessings in his life which included a large family. He was loved by his dynamic mother, Bertha Ross of Detroit, Michigan, a beloved sister, Pat Allen of Port Saint Lucie, Florida and 2 beautiful daughters, Leva Marie of Puntarenas, Costa Rica and Ivory Danielle of Jamestown, NY. He has 7 grandchildren, 5 aunts and 1 uncle and countless cousins, each one dear to him.

He also had some heartaches such as losing in death his beloved wife of 48 years, Arlene Daniels in Nov 2021, his only son, Sean Montgomery in January 2021 and his Stepfather (Pop), David Lee Ross in January 2024

After graduating high school, Curtis joined the US Army in 1968 and fought in the Vietnam War. Shortly after returning home, however, Curtis was dedicated and baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on January 4, 1971, and from that point on lived a life of peaceful neutrality in political and military affairs.

Curtis had a full and active life. He worked at Carborundum in Jamestown for many years. He was a "Man of the Community," always there to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. He was well known for his cooking skills, from his chili and ribs to his homemade cheesecakes. He may have become a man of few words, but he always had a heart of gold, and an infectious belly laugh when he thought something was funny. He will be missed but not forgotten.

The family wanted to make special mention to all who helped in the care of Curtis both at Brookdale Assisted Living in Lakewood, NY and the former Randolph Manor. His quality of life was better due to your consistent care and love.

His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 1 pm with the Ewald Circle Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and his mom and family in Detroit, Michigan. It will be broadcast on Zoom for family and friends who can't attend in person. The info is as follows Meeting ID 621-150-549. The Passcode is 122448.
