Sweet Sylvia K. Anderson, 96, of Jamestown, NY joined her late husband, Harold on what would be their 65th anniversary on June 24, 2026. Both her son, John, and daughter, Beth, were by her side when she passed ever so peacefully at Warren Manor, PA.
Born May 20, 1930, in Rockville Center, NY, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Milton and Ellen Lepsesty Ketchy. She was a 1947 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1952 graduate of Thiel College with a bachelor’s degree in biology, and later received her Medical Technologist Certification from Sharon General Hospital. Prior to her retirement she was employed by WCA Hospital from 1952-62 working as a registered medical technologist under Dr. William Tracy.
Her memberships include Moon Brook Country Club, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, the Willowettes at Willow Run Golf Course and the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
Sylvia enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling, and playing cards with a myriad of friends from all parts of her life. Some strong lifelong relationships became her closest ‘chosen family’. Her other passion was for her faithful furry companions: Pepper, Simon and Sadie.
Surviving are two children, John (Cheryl) Anderson of Austin, TX, Beth (Oren) Bendavid-Val of Boston, MA and grandchildren, Ryan and Christopher Anderson and Eli and Inez Bendavid-Val. She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Harold “Brud” Anderson. whom she married June 24, 1961, and who died September 22, 1998.
Friends and family can gather at 2pm on Saturday July 11, 2026, in the Lind Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 3pm.
Memorial donations can be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society in her honor.
