Ruth Ann (Johnson) Walter
1941-2026
Ruth Ann (Johnson) Walter, 84, of Jamestown, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at UPMC Chautauqua. She was born in Sheffield, PA on December 10, 1941, to the late Ben and Marjorie Anderson Johnson.
Following high school, Ruth worked for many years, retiring from the then Blair Corporation which became New Process, as Secretary to the Vice President of Advertising.
Knitting was Ruth’s lifelong passion, learning the skill at age 7. She always had something going in her hands, whether it was baby sweaters, quilts, mittens, or afghans. Notably, she skillfully crafted Amish dolls and raggedy ann dolls which required the assembly of 27 pieces along with hand-embroidered faces and each strand of hair sewn on individually.
Along with her husband, Brooks, Ruth traveled to many craft shows, selling and giving away her crafts alike. They also enjoyed the farmer’s market where her homemade pies, bread, and cookies were adored.
Ruth will be dearly missed by her husband, Brooks Walter, whom she married November 2, 1968, and her (adopted) daughter, Susan Sanden.
Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Heidi, and by her brother, Bill Johnson.
No services or visitation will be held.
