Kristine Suzanne Young Andrews

Kristine Suzanne Young Andrews was born February 20, 1945, in Jamestown, NY, to Laverne Young and Anna Beckdahl Young of Frewsburg. Kristine peacefully passed away with Paul at her side on June 16, 2026 from COPD and a two-year battle with cancer.

Kris graduated from Frewsburg High School, class of 1963 and went on to attend SUNY, Morrisville, where she met her future husband, Paul. Not a fan of the academic world, Kris returned to Frewsburg where she tried her hand at various jobs including waitressing at what is now the Dinner Bell and bartending at the original Frewsburg Hotel. Kris eventually found her way into the medical administration field working in various doctor’s offices until she accepted a position at WCA Hospital where she worked her way up to Registration Coordinator for the emergency room, outpatient and admissions departments.

In 1989, Kris moved to Rochester and obtained employment as the office manager for a multi-office ophthalmology practice. In 1991, after a twenty-year wait, Kris and Paul married and upon their retirement moved back to Frewsburg and built their “house on the hill”. Kris now had the time to engage in her hobbies of birding and gardening. She loved to plant flowers and grow vegetables. She also spent many hours on her ATV roaming in her woods looking for birds. On one of her excursions, she actually bumped into Roger Tory Peterson on one of the Audubon Society trails.

Kris and Paul engaged in many activities while retired including boating, camping, and RVing. They decided to escape the cold winters and became “snow birds” in Florida. They gave up the RV and bought a house in Fort Myers which quickly became the neighborhood social hot spot especially on beer and pizza nights. Kris was well liked by everyone and will be missed by friends here in NY and Florida.

Kris was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Melvin Bjork and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by husband, Paul, sisters, Janice Conrad (Donald), Sandra Gorham (John), and brother John Young (Nancy). Also surviving are stepson, Mark Andrews (Lisa) and step-grandchildren, Connor, Grayson, and Isabel Andrews.

All of us will miss Kris very much especially Paul- “Kris was my first date and now my last date.”

Friends will be received from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 in Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg.
