John A. Polley, 60, of Dewittville, died Wednesday June 17, 2026, in his home.

He was born October 2, 1965, in Jamestown, a son of Charles and Patricia Franskowiak Polley.

A 1983 graduate of Jamestown High School, he participated in band and A’Cappella Choir.

He was employed by Johnson Controls for 25+ years as a technician.

John was a member of the Vikings. In his spare time, he enjoyed doing crosswords with his mother (every weekend), camping and kayaking. John was an avid Buffalo fan. He never missed watching a game. John enjoyed working on the many projects he had going on at his home. John’s biggest joy in life was his children and his grandson. John was looking forward to all the trouble he could get into with him.

Surviving is his mother of Greenhurst, his wife Melissa Sargent Polley, whom he married July 28, 2001; four children Alia Birt of Ellington, Jordan (Beau) Blanchard of Stockton, Alexandra Polley of Jamestown and Robert Polley of Dewittville; a grandson Brooks Blanchard and siblings Charles (Pat) Polley of Madison, IN, Matthew (Nellie) Polley of Bemus Point, Joan (Mike) Kuchta of Ashville, Jim (Marilyn) Polley of Hawley, TX, Susan (John) Hess of Jamestown, Ann (John) Welch of Appalachian, NY, Elizabeth (Gary) Moody of Mesa, AZ and Deborah (Todd) Hoyt of Mesa, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends will be received from 11 am to 1 pm Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service beginning at 1 pm Tuesday.

Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. A funeral reception is being held at Park United Methodist Church in Sinclairville, NY beginning at 3pm.

Memorials may be made to the JHS Band and Chorus Association.
