Cynthia Lois Timm Anderson, 79, of Mayville, NY passed into eternal glory on Friday, June 5, 2026, at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pennsylvania surrounded by her husband, Rick, daughter Amy, and son, Chris.
She was born November 6, 1946, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Allen F. and Lois Holcomb Timm.
Cindy was a graduate of Randolph Central School, class of 1964, William Smith College of 1968 and graduated with a Master’s Degree from Ivy League School, Brown University, while on a fellowship in 1969.
Prior to her retirement, she taught 4 years at Mayville Central School, where she met her future husband, Rick. Cindy also spent 23 ¢ years at Westfield Academy and Central School where she taught middle grades social studies and High School Psychology. She was also Senior Honor Society Advisor and Varsity Cheerleading Advisor at Westfield School. She was a member of the National Education Association (NEA) and New York State Union of Teachers (NYSUT). Cindy loved being a teacher and mentor to middle school students. She had a special fondness for them.
Cindy was an avid reader of books (mystery and romance). She loved cats, especially her beloved Fred and Seamore. She enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and tennis tournaments on television as well as reruns of Perry Mason. She also was a fan of the Murder, She Wrote television series.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, beloved grandchildren, and attending their concerts and athletic contests. For her children, many times she would attend multiple athletic contests in the same night so she could watch them both compete. Traveling to South Carolina and Maine was a favorite yearly pastime. Cindy and her husband, Rick, wintered 17 years in Myrtle Beach and spent numerous vacations there. They also enjoyed Maine at Old Orchard Beach and Bar Harbor, where she especially liked the rocky coast of Acadia National Park. Thunder Hole and Cadillac Mountain were her favorites.
Cindy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard (Rick) Anderson, her daughter Amy Jeanne (Alan) Pomeroy of Mayville, her son Christopher (Amy Lynn) Anderson of Lakewood; her nephew Michael Frame of Randolph; her grandchildren, Emma, Grace and Gavin Anderson of Lakewood; and her grand dogs, Boop, Betty, and Brownie of Mayville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marla Jeanne Timm Frame. She will also be reunited with her cats, Fred and Seamore, and her grand dogs, Bailey, Bud, Bert, Ernie and Jasper.
Visitation will be at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 from 4-7 PM. The funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Jamestown on Thursday, June 11 2026 at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in the Chautauqua Cemetery.
